Dar Williams is an acclaimed singer-songwriter who has made a career out of telling compelling stories through music. After years of touring, she has visiting thousands and thousands of places with unique identities and challenges. After reflecting on all these places, she wound up writing What I Found in a Thousand Towns, a beautiful exploration of what makes places work. During our conversation, we touch on just what she has learned from visiting so many places and how communities can better understand themselves. By the end, it is clear that there is both great complexity and understated simplicity in how the best communities operate. (As a side note: We are excited to release this podcast on the same day the book is released!)
