Justin Garrett Moore is an urban designer and the Executive Director of the Public Design Commission in New York City. Somehow, he also finds time to teach at Columbia University and help with a social enterprise he founded, Urban Patch, as well. He is doing special things in the search for how design can be utilized to create better places. Through his work with the Public Design Commission, he is doing the important work of shaping the future of the public realm in New York City. His ability to look at both the technical side of things and the bigger picture make him the perfect person for such an endeavor. After hearing him talk, it quickly becomes clear that design, so often an afterthought, is crucial to the future of our places.
